Shekel flat

The shekel is flat against the dollar and strengthening against the euro in inter-bank trading today.

The shekel is flat against the dollar and euro in morning inter-bank trading today, reversing yesterday's trend. The shekel-dollar exchange rate has fallen 0.03%, compared with yesterday's representative rate, to NIS 3.532/$, and the shekel-euro exchange rate has weakened 0.21% to NIS 4.762/€.

Yesterday, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.533/$, up 0.17% on Friday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at 4.773/€, up 0.13%.

In international markets, the dollar has strengthened slight against the euro and pound to $1.35/€ and $1.587/£, but weakened 0.2% against the yen to ¥89.48/$.

FXCM Israel says today, "The market is talking about a postponement of the tapering of quantitative easing until the first half of 2014, but this assessment is not yet based on clear statements by the Fed. If the GDP and jobs numbers disappoint, as early forecasters predict, this will strengthen assessments that the tapering will be postponed."
