Hot readying for Internet TV

Hot will integrate Zappware's solution with the new Fiberbox set-top-box that Hot will soon launch.

Hot Telecommunication Systems Ltd. (TASE: HOT.B1) is readying for pending competition in Internet television. It will soon offer a solution for computers, tablets, and smartphones developed by Belgium's Zappware NV. Hot will integrate Zappware's solution with the new Fiberbox set-top-box that Hot will soon launch.

French cable broadband carrier Numericable SA (Euronext: NUM), controlled by Hot owner Patrick Drahi, has also adopted Zappware's product.

The Zappware solution will make it possible to view Hot content across a range of devices, but declined to say whether the solution is intended for transmitting content via the Internet for television as well. The interface is very similar for all devices.

In a separate development, Hot announced that it has made an additional NIS 135 million payment, plus linkage, for the acquisition of full control of Hot Mobile Ltd.. The payment was made when Hot Mobile reached a market share that is 7% larger than its share when the acquisition agreement was signed. The payment follows a NIS 90 million payment in June.
