Cellcom warns of phishing attack

Mobile carrier Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) has warned its subscribers of a phishing attack. "In the past few days, a phishing attack has been occurring consisting of messages to the company's customers via SMS or e-mail," Cellcom said.

Cellcom added that when a phishing attack is identified, it blocks access to the URL that appears in the message and requests the service provider via which the message was sent to block the transmission of further messages.

Cellcom also sent messages to its subscribers stating: "Warning. Dear customer, in the past few days some of the company's subscribers have received SMS messages concerning renewal of the mobile package, and a link for inputting credit card details. Cellcom has no connection to these messages. If you have input your credit card details, please contact the credit card company for instructions."

Cellcom intends to file a complaint with Israel Police.
