Two residential high-rises, a boutique hotel and commercial development will be built by Mahane Yehuda market.
The Jerusalem District Planning and Building Committee has approved for deposit plans to build in the city's center's Kiach complex to the immediate east of the Mahane Yehuda market between Jaffa Road and Agrippas Street. The 2-acre site currently houses the abandoned Kiach school and is used as a car park opposite the Clal Building for shoppers coming to the adjacent market.
140 apartments for sale and an additional 44 apartments for rent will be built in two 24-floor high-rises. Smaller buildings will also be constructed for commercial and hotel purposes.
An additional floor will be built onto the dilapidated school building, which will be converted into a 70-room boutique hotel. Alleyways will allow the public to move through the complex en route to the market.
