The follows Israel’s security demands concerning cargo arriving from Rome.
The airline Air Seychelles has decided to temporarily cease its Rome-Tel Aviv-Seychelles flights, until a solution is found to the security checks Israel requires of cargo leaving Rome. The general manager of Open Sky, which represents Air Seychelles in Israel, told "Globes" today he estimates the halt will be in effect a number of months.
Israel’s security forces require that Air-Seychelles operate a pressure cabin for cargo inspections, in order to verify that no explosive materials are brought to Israel.
"We will not agree to our Seychelles-bound aircraft stopping in Israel wait three hours on the ground, in order to examine the cargo bay," Open Sky stated. "This would constitute a drop in the standard of living of passengers traveling from Rome."
