The police reached an unofficial understanding with Adv. Dan Avi Yitzhak, whereby he would testify in the Bar-On affair, while police investigation proceedings against him in the Paz affair, exposed by "Globes", would be delayed. Avi-Yitzhak is evidently the key witness in the Bar-On affair. According to the police, his credibility is the preponderant consideration in the question of whether or not to bring indictments in the affair.
It was Major General Sandu Mazor, head of the police investigations division, who instructed the national fraud squad, investigating the Paz affair, to refrain from summoning Avi -Yitzhak to give his deposition, either as a witness or as a suspect (under caution), at least until the conclusion of the Bar-On investigation.
Adv. Yaakov Weinrot, the Prime Minister’s lawyer, reportedly sought an interview with Arbel, which, however, was denied. The State Attorney's Office is making every effort to publish its conclusions before the Passover holiday. It is estimated that the conclusions will be out before Sunday.
