The Canadian cafי chain "Second Cup" is starting up in Israel. Canadian Foreign Trade Minister Arthur Eggleton will next week inaugurate the chain’s first Israeli centre.
This is the largest cafי chain in Canada and the second largest in North America. It acquired two other chains in the USA and opened its own branches. The chain operates 550 branches in Canada and the USA, 300 of them in Canada. A further 100 branches will be opened this year.
The chain’s first branch outside of North America opened in Jerusalem beside a McDonald's branch. The franchise for operating the chain was awarded to Rafi Tzubari, who recently immigrated from Canada. According to the plan, up to 50 branches will be opened in Israel. 4-10 branches will be opened this year.
