Cellcom Cuts Ties with Shekem Electric Due to Sales Promotion with Pelephone

GM Shekem Electric: We will not fold under suppliers' pressure for exclusivity.

Cellcom cut its ties with the Shekem electric retail chain and will not supply its cellular phones to the chain.

The ties were severed on the background of a sales promotion held by the Shekem Electric stores, in which anyone who purchased more than NIS 2000, was entitled to an Audiovox cellular phone for the Pelephone network at the cost of NIS 390. The regular price for the device is about NIS 1000.

Shekem Electric General Manager Baruch Friedman said, ""We are a big and serious enough company, to make business decisions and not fold under pressure from suppliers demanding exclusivity. We began a promotion for customers and intend to continue it, despite requests from Cellcom not to begin the promotion and even to stop it in the middle.
