Contracts between the other long-distance telephone service providers and cellular service providers will soon follow.
Cellcom general manager Yaakov Perry and Golden Lines general manager Ram Belinkov today signed a large-scale hookup agreement between the two companies. The agreement will enable Cellcom subscribers to dial abroad at Golden Line prices, with service commencing within the next few days.
Cellcom subscribers will therefore be the first among Israel’s cellular users to benefit from the significant reduction in international call rates, resulting from opening the market to competition.
The agreement determines that Golden Lines will pay Cellcom for air-time on incoming calls, according to the tariffs set down in the tender, presently NIS 0.35 per minute. Cellcom’s set tariff for one minute of air-time is some NIS 0.35. Golden Lines will pay a fee on outgoing calls to Cellcom, at a rate of some NIS 0.30 per minute.
Today, cellular phone subscribers can dial abroad only via Bezeq International, paying the old rates of NIS 3 per minute.
It is expected that with the signing of the Cellcom-Golden Lines agreement, contracts between the other long-distance telephone service providers and cellular service providers will soon follow.
