Communications Ministry Tells Bezeq to Disconnect from Internet Junction

In light of the order, Bezeq’s service is essentially void of content.

The Ministry of Communications last week instructed Bezeq to disconnect itself from Israel’s Internet junction, as Bezeq has no license to provide Internet service. In light of the disconnection, Bezeq yesterday inaugurated a new system, void of content except for two small Internet servers and a 144 directory assistance service.

Connectivity to the Israeli Internet junction would allow users of Bezeq’s BezeqNet 135 service to surf those sites connected to the Israeli junction, without the need for a service provider. Bezeq was connected to the junction but after sharp letters fired off by service providers NetVision and Net Media, the Ministry’s head of engineering and permits gave Bezeq the order to disconnect.

In an announcement released by Bezeq following the inauguration of the BezeqNet 135 service, which was attended by Minister of Communications Limor Livnat, the fact that the service was void of content was not mentioned.
