Karl Kilburg, regional Vice-President of Marriott Lodging, told "Globes": "Economic conditions have changed. We will run hotels in Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv and Eilat".
The Marriott hotel chain will run hotels in Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem and Eilat. Contacts between the chain’s managers and the owners of the Tel-Aviv Carlton hotel, which were suspended for several months, are now continuing. "Globes" heard this from Karl Kilburg, regional Vice-President of Marriott Lodging, who arrived last weekend for a short visit to Israel, together with the outgoing President of the Ramada chain in Europe.
In an exclusive interview with "Globes", Kilburg said that the chain will merge the Ramada and Renaissance hotels into the Marriott group.
Marriott, said Kilburg, intends to manage hotels in Israel’s three main tourist centres: Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem and Eilat. Asked why the chain has refrained from coming into Israel until now, Kilburg said: "Until now, we had not found a hotel that met our expectations. In the past year, economic circumstances have changed, and we will operate in Israel too, through the acquisition of the Ramada and Renaissance chains".
