Eisenberg Shifts Gonen Segev from Energy in China to Trade in Korea

This move is believed to have been occasioned by public criticism against a former Minister of Energy engaging in energy affairs.

Shoul Eisenberg has decided to relieve former Minister of Energy Gonen Segev of his handling of energy affairs on behalf of the Eisenberg group in China, assigning him instead to deal with trade affairs in Korea.

Senior concerns in the energy market said Eisenberg took this step due to the sharp public criticism levelled against Segev’s being engaged in affairs of energy, immediately after completing his term of Minister of Energy.

The Movement for Quality Government in Israel applied to Attorney General Michael Ben-Yair, demanding that he discontinue Segev’s employment in energy affairs. This followed the revelation that Segev was about to come to Israel together with a mission of the Chinese National Petroleum Company.

As reported by “Globes”, Segev cancelled his visit to Israel with the mission. Segev joined Eisenberg on a trip to Qatar concerning energy matters, a few weeks after winding up his term of office as Minister of Energy, during which he had numerous contacts with the Qatari authorities.

The Attorney General is examining the matter of Segev’s employment with the Eisenberg group, in view of the fact that Segev did not seek his permission for working with the Eisenberg group, even though Ben-Yair had handed down directives to members of the previous cabinet, before they completed their term of office.

Neither Eisenberg nor Segev were available today for comment.
