The Israeli flights will be executed by Boeing 727s, and will land in Paris. The date for the first flight has not yet been scheduled.
"Globes" has learned that US firm Federal Express, the world's largest express transportation company, intends to execute regular flights to and from Israel. The information was given by the Federal Express VP for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Study of possible regular landings in Israel commenced one year ago. Federal Express is interested in including Israel on its list of regular stations, as part of the expansion of its global flight network, spreading out over 211 countries. According to plan, 6 weekly flights will land in Israel, at a rate of one a day.
The Israeli market justifies beginning regular flights to Israel, says Federal Express, and air links between Israel, Europe and the US will be increased. "The flights from Israel will land at Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris, which has recently become our regional base in western Europe. The Israeli flights are part of our company’s work plan, and will improve the service given to Israeli companies."
Federal Express controls 50% of express parcel deliveries in the US. The company operates an aircraft fleet of 559 planes, has an average daily package volume of 2.5 million and an average daily call volume of over 380,000.
