For the first time, the multinational Marriott hotel chain will operate in Tel-Aviv. From January 1st 1999, the Ramada Continental in Tel-Aviv will be part of the chain, and will be operated under the chain’s Renaissance brand name, which has a five-star grading.
The hotel has 340 rooms, and renovations have been carried out in the last few months, according to specific request of the Marriott chain, to the dining-room and other rooms. The renovations have cost $3 million, and have been financed by the hotel’s owners. The hotel will now be called the Renaissance Tel-Aviv, and will operate as a five-star grade hotel
The Renaissance in Jerusalem also operates in the chain.
The multinational Marriott chain has 1,600 hotels in 54 countries, and operating under ten different brand names, including Ritz-Carlton, Marriott, Renaissance, Ramada, and others. In April ’97, Marriott acquired the Ramada and Renaissance group of hotels from Chang of Hong Kong, for one billion dollars.
