Work on Har Homa will commence as early as this week, according to Justice Minister Tzachi Hanegbi. He added that the commencement of the work must not be permitted to ignite "field fires".
"I voiced no threats. The State of Israel must not pass in silence over the fact that its partner in political negotiations has instructed that the go-ahead be given for terror attacks against Israel, as reported today. This is a blatant violation of the political agreement and we cannot go on like this". This comment came this morning (Monday) from Justice Minister Tzachi Hanegbi, in relation to the adverse reactions in the Arab world to his condemnation of Arafat on Saturday. Minister Hanegbi was interviewed by the Voice of Israel radio programme.
Hanegbi said he did not regret his remarks and would not have preferred to rephrase them. "It is not possible to open up the arms crate and start a blood bath, on the premise that this will not affect the political process", said Hanegbi.
