Hitachi has selected NetCom to be the Israeli distributor of their fast switching equipment. Their products are designed for the top end of the communications network and data transfer market, and can handle networks operating at speeds of 5-20 Gigabytes a second. They are today the backbone of fast communications networks, and it is believed they will be used as the basis for heavily loaded multi-media networks.
Last week, the vice-president of Hitachi Networking division, Uri Rahamim, arrived in Israel. The company is one of fifty Hitachi International subsidiaries. It has been appointed to market Hitachi communications equipment, which till now was only sold in Japan. In Japan alone Hitachi has sold $2.5 billion worth of communications equipment.
Rahamim will act as general manager of the company, which was formed at his initiative two years ago in order to develop the export marketing of Hitachi Networking, and to adapt their line of products to the international market. The first products went on the market last year, and the company’s turnover has been only $25 million so far, 65% of this outside Japan.
