IMI to Offer IDF Bulletproof Vests Resistant to Palestinian Rifle Bullets

Israel Military Industries General Manager Shlomo Milo: Regular production of the new vests can begin in a matter of weeks.

Israel Military Industries (IMI) is preparing for the emergency manufacture of a new kind of bulletproof vest for the IDF, which is resistant to all known types of bullets.

Among others, the vest is resistant to Kalashnikov bullets, the type of rifle used by the Palestinian police. The vest, known as the ASA-10, is made of advanced materials, developed by IMI’s engine division for the engines of the Arrow missile and the Shavit missile launcher.

IMI General Manager Shlomo Milo stated the company can begin regular production and supply the first series to the IDF in a matter of weeks. "I expect the IDF to purchase the vests from us, after the immediate purchase now being made making in Britain."

Our vest just completed the American Justice Department licensing process, the highest authority in the world in the field. The vest is resistant to all the known types of bullets in the world, including those that are not even found in the Middle East."

The vest will cost less than $1000 a piece.
