Israeli Arab Arrested On Suspicion of Aiding Dizengoff Suicide Bomber

The suspect is believed to have used his truck to convey the terrorist to the attack site. The suspect lives in a Beduin village in northern Israel.

The security forces have arrested a man suspected of aiding the suicide bomber who perpetrated Monday's attack on Dizengoff Street. The detainee is suspected of conveying the terrorist from the Gaza Strip to the site of the attack.

According to the application for warrant of arrest, the man established contact with a hostile organization in Gaza for the purpose of smuggling a person into Israel. On Monday, March 4, the suspect carried in his truck a resident of the Gaza Strip who was carrying a big bag. He put him down on Dizengoff Street. A minute later, the explosive charge was detonated.

The counts of which the detainee, resident of a Beduin village in the north of Israel, is suspected, are rendering service to a hostile organization and aiding in murder. Police sources reported that he received $1,100 for his services. Under interrogation, the suspect confirmed that he had carried the terrorist but denied knowledge of his intentions. The suspect engaged in carrying iron from the Gaza Strip. He was arrested on Monday evening, after the attack.

A Justice of the Peace in Tiberias remanded the suspect in custody for 14 days to enable the police and the GSS to question him.

Astonishment was expressed in the suspect's village following the arrest. Correct to this evening, the name of the village has not been approved for publication, but some of its residents reportedly serve in the IDF. Villagers say the suspect owns a great deal of property, also including two trucks, and it is accordingly not reasonable that he would have committed such an act for $1,100.
