Israeli-Palestinian Chambers of Commerce to Open Liaison Office in Tel Aviv

The Federation of Chambers of Commerce recommended the Gaza Chambers of Commerce establish an Israeli-Palestinian business council. The council would be located in the federations’ Tel Aviv building, and the federation invited the Palestinian organization to send two representatives to staff the liaison office on a permanent basis.

This was agreed upon in a meeting in the Gaz Strip last week between about 100 Israeli business people, lawyers and accountants and Palestinian Authority Chair Yasser Arafat and a delegation of local businesspeople. Despite the fact that the meeting was held at the peak of the Har Homa crisis, Arafat encouraged the businespeople to strengthen their ties.
