According to him, half of the South Lebanon Army’s soldiers will switch over to the Hizbullah and the other half will form a militia to fight against Israel.
South Lebanon Army commander, General Antoine Lahd, today warned that a unilateral Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, will cause half of his soldiers to fight alongside the Hizbullah, while the rest of the SLA soldiers will form a militia which will fight Israel.
In an interview with the French newspaper "Le Figaro", Lahd is very blunt and aggressive towards Israel. He warned that his soldiers will not remain indifferent in the event of an Israeli withdrawal, and will, in fact, turn their weapons against Israel.
He mentioned that during the cooperation between the SLA and the IDF, hundreds of Lebanese citizens and SLA soldiers have been killed and hundreds more have been injured.
He beseeched the Israeli people not to demand an IDF withdrawal from southern Lebanon and expressed hope for continued cooperation with the IDF.
