Leah Rabin, widow of assassinated Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, together with his close associates, of waging a personal campaign against Amnon Lipkin-Shahak, because of the former IDF Chief of Staff’s great popularity among the public.
"The massive love and support Shahak is getting from the Israeli public has led Netanyahu and his associates to launch a personal campaign against him and to target him as a "leftie"", she said. "The worst word in Netanyahu’s lexicon - "leftie" - has already been said about Shahak, but I am not sure that they have had enough time to consult with Arthur Finkelstein, as they did in their campaign against Yitzhak," Mrs Rabin added.
