The Ministry of Finance, with Shohat's approval, requested an
additional inspection by the State Comptroller's Office of Mifal Hapayis
(State Lottery), but the request was denied.
The Ministry of Finance's Legal Advisor, Tamar Hecker, recently
completed her investigation of various charges which have reached the
Minister of Finance, Avraham Shohat, concerning occurrences at Mifal
Hapayis (State Lottery), and reached the conclusion that a
recommendation should be submitted to the Office of the State
Comptroller to open an additional investigation concerning the
organization. Hecker's investigation was based in "Globes" and
"Ha'aretz"'s publication of goings-on inside the organization, including
the size of Gideon Gadot, Chair of the Board of Directors', pension
plan. Shohat approved the recommendation to approach the State
Comptroller.
Senior officials in the Ministry of Finance claim that the Office of
the State Comptroller refused to conduct an additional inspection of
Mifal Hapayis, claiming that the institution had been investigated only
a year and a half ago
