According to preliminary estimates, Viagra sales in Israel will amount to $1 million monthly.
The Ministry of Health’s advisory committee for the registration of drugs today approved registration of the Viagra drug, for regular marketing in Israel. The drug will be marketed only against a doctor’s prescription, and the Ministry warned that "Viagra is not to be used for treating occasional or minor problems, and has definitely not been approved for healthy men".
Israel is one of the first countries in the world to approved the drug for marketing, after the United States. The committee viewed international data on instances of death caused by the use of the drug, but found that these instances do not indicate an unpredictable risk, in relation to the manufacturer’s labelling.
The Viagra pill, developed and manufactured by Pfizer of the US, will be distributed in Israel by Promedico.
According to preliminary estimates, Viagra sales in Israel will amount to $1 million monthly.
