NetVision Enables Internet Access from New York for the Price of a Free Local Call

New York-based NetVision subscribers now have free access to the web via a 1-800 number.

Communications service provider NetVision now enables free access to subscribers connecting from New York, via a free 1-800 number. To this end, the company has set up a POP server in New York and is currently establishing a similar server in Silicon Valley.

In essence, the NetVision site in New York has been in operation for some time and provides subscribers with Israel On Line services, although NetVision subscribers traveling to New York are unaware of its existence. The company says it did not want to publicize the free access from New York until after the California server was opened but subscribers can already receive a number of support services from the company.

"Globes" has learned that NetVision is presently in advanced negotiations with a European Internet company concerning an agreement which will allow subscribers free access from all EU nations. It should be noted that NetVision rival IBM Israel already offers direct Internet access from 700 cities, via the worldwide IBM network.
