Paz Investigative Team Gets Avi-Yitzhak Green Light

Three months ago the team was instructed not to interview in Adv. Dan Avi-Yitzhak until after the Bar-On investigation was completed.

The team in charge of the Paz Affair investigation, first revealed in "Globes", was given the green light several days ago to call in Adv. Dan Avi-Yitzhak for an interview. The order was given due to the conclusion of the Bar-On affair investigation, in which Avi-Yitzhak is a key witness.

Three months ago the team was instructed not to interview in Adv. Dan Avi-Yitzhak until after the Bar-On investigation was completed.

After news of the order was revealed, suspicions were raised that the Police Force was accommodating Avi-Yitzhak in the Paz investigation, in return for his testimony in the Bar-On affair. The police, the state attorney’s office and Avi-Yitzhak have all denied rumors that any sort of deal between was made concerning the Paz investigation.

Reportedly, head of the investigative division of the police, Commander Sando Mazor, was asked by State Attorney Edna Arbel why the Avi-Yitzhak investigation was held up. It is not clear whether Mazor was instructed to carry on with Avi-Yitzhak’s investigation in the Paz Affair, or if this was his own decision. In any case, with the conclusion of the Bar-On affair investigation, aside from a few addenda, it was now possible to call Avi-Yitzhak in for questioning.

In the Paz Affair, Avi-Yitzhak is suspected of being involved and negotiating with the Jack Lieberman group, a Paz party-at-interest, in the name of the Bagshik - Gunshiurovsky (Art-B) group. $16 million was paid illegally to Bogoslav Bagshik and Andrei Gunshiurovsky, and was concealed from both the court and the Art-B liquidator.
