Point of Sale Completes Checkout Management System Development for UK’s Tesco

The project is the final stage in developing Tesco’s next generation of checkout management systems.

Point of Sale of Herzliya has completed development of the POS supermarket checkout management system for UK retailer Tesco. The project is the third and final stage in a series of development projects, representing the next generation of Tesco’s checkout management system. The system integrates Point of Sale’s existing POSware product, already installed in a broad range of retail market segments including multi-lane supermarkets, department stores, DIY shops, fast-food chains, restaurants and self-service fuel stations with convenience stores.

Tesco operates 500 outlets, including supermarkets, cafeterias and self service fuel stations. The development project is valued at $2 million. The volume of the software installation project over the next 3-5 years is an estimated $6 million. Point of Sale is continuing to develop a new system, making use of an innovative technology to conduct shopping from home.

Point Of Sale has a worldwide installed base of over 6,000 stores and 60,000 check-out lanes, in major retail chains in North America, Western and Eastern Europe, Asia, and South Africa.
