Deputy Housing Minister Meir Porush was speaking at the cornerstone-laying ceremony of a project in Bnei Berak, whose developers sought to have it rezoned as residential land.
The supply of offices in the Dan Bloc will exceed demand in the future, said Deputy Housing Minister Meir Porush speaking today (Tuesday) at the cornerstone-laying ceremony of the Dan Centre project in Bnei Berak.
Porush said that on the basis of this forecast, he supports the demand of the Dan Centre developers, the Canadel and Givat Marom companies, which are seeking the rezoning of the office tower planned for the project, to include not only offices but also residential apartments.
The tower will consist of 38 storeys, in a total area of 30,000 sq.m. The developers wish to reduce the office area to 9,000 sq.m. and have the remained rezoned as residential space. The application was discussed at the local town planning committee, but has yet to be approved. One of the problems is that Bnei Berak objects, in principle, to the construction of high rise residential buildings, due to halachic problems concerning the use of elevators on Saturdays.
The project also has 15,000 sq.m. of commercial space, of which 60% have already been let.
