Semiconductor Slowdown: LSI Cuts 1200 Jobs, Closes Plant

LSI Logic Corp., hurt by a sharp slowdown in semiconductor sales in Japan, on Wednesday became the latest Silicon Valley company to announce layoffs. It plans to terminate 1,200 employees, or 17% of its workforce.
