The buyer will pay $2.5 million. Sotheby’s assisted in finding purchasers.
A Jewish investor from Switzerland is at an advanced stage of negotiations to purchase the Jerusalem penthouse in which the late Dr. Nahum Goldman, who was chairman of the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Congress, lived for many years. The investor will pay $2.5 million for the penthouse, which is 400 sq. m. in area, with a balcony, and is situated on Ahad Ha’am Street in the Talbieh neighbourhood. This is one of the most prestigious and luxurious apartments in the country.
After Dr. Goldman’s death, his heirs sold the apartment to a British investor, who offered it for sale six months ago. Marketing was done through Anglo-Saxon Jerusalem, and Sotheby’s International. Sotheby’s distributed a leaflet to its regular customers in the Judaica field. Six potential purchasers viewed the apartment. Anglo-Saxon Jerusalem arranged a sort of auction among them, and is about to sell the penthouse to the highest bidder, whose bid was almost the same as the asking price.
The apartment has 12 rooms and a 70 sq. m. balcony. It is fully furnished, with a very large, fully equipped kitchen, Persian carpets, and air conditioning.
