US Military Classified Unit Installs Israeli Internet Protection Software

The move came in the wake of the "Internet Underground" break-in at the Pentagon last week.

A classified unit of the US Military has installed a security system made by Israeli companies Finjan and Check Point, at one of its most sensitive computer sites. Finjan reported that the system was installed in order to define a military standard for protection against break-ins to sites, such as the Israeli "Internet Underground" that broke into Pentagon computers last week.

Finjan supplies software which protects computer networks from hostile applets, which operate independently following entry to the computer or network. Check Point manufactures Firewall 1 (IP), a system which protects computer networks from hacker break-ins, working by means of Internet protocols.

Finjan is based in Netanya and owned by Shlomo Tobol. The company is negotiating with several of the world’s major Firewall manufacturers, in order to convince them to integrate its protection system into their systems. Among the companies it is negotiating with are Check Point, Novell, Sisco and others.
