VDOLive to be Integrated into Premier for Windows

ADOBE has integrated VDOLive on-line video systems developed by VDONet in the new version of Adobe Premiere 4.2 for Windows. Web content developers will be able to use VDOLive's technologies to enable transmission and instant-play of video production, via Internet and intranet services.

The feature to be integrated into Premier is the VDOLive Personal Server, a server which provides developers with tools to edit, produce, and deliver video from their web sites on both the Internet and Intranet. Until now, users could only play VDOLive clips from the 'net, but they could not create them for others to see. VDOLive motion video runs in real time on the Internet, at rates between 10 and 15 frames per second with a 28.8 kbps modem. The system can be scaleable in performance up to a T1 connection.

Asaf Mohr, VDONet's president explains that until now, web developers lacked an easy way to produce and deliver real-time video on the Web. The new product, and its integration in a popular production tool such as Premier, provides such a solution in a simple way. Practically, users of Premier will be able to save their video content directly into VDOLive format, ready for playback over the Internet.

Steve Kilisky, Adobe's product marketing manager for Adobe Premiere, said Adobe Premiere is a non-linear video editing program enabling users to easily combine video, audio, animation, still images and graphics to create movies and multimedia presentations from the desktop. The software is used in commercial videos, corporate training programs, production of multimedia titles, movies for broadcast on the Internet and for off-line editing for the broadcast community. Adobe Premiere 4.2 for Windows is a new 32-bit version of the program optimized for Windows 95 and Windows NT.

VDOLive is based on two core technologies. The first compresses video to run over the small bandwidth portions of the Internet but also allows the quality of the video to increase with the size and quality of the connection at the other end. The second technology is a communications protocol which maintains the integrity of the video as it makes its way through the complex Internet.

The VDOLive personal server software enables anyone developing video to create two simultaneous "streams" of video of up to one minute in length. Any video content developed with this server can be upgraded as needed to any of VDOnet's other VDOLive video servers.
