Intel to Incorporate Finjan’s SurfinShield in New Mother Boards

The software is designed to protect computers from hostile Internet applications.

Intel International will incorporate in its new mother board software packages "SurfinShield" - security software manufactured by Finjan against hostile mobile code applications. Details of the volume of the deal were not disclosed. Intel puts eleven million mother boards on the market every year.

"SurfinShield" is a security software program for personal computer users connected to the Internet, who wish to protect themselves against hostile use of "mobile code" technologies. Such use enables mobile code writers (using JAVA, Active-X and other computer languages) to penetrate computers connected to the Internet without the users’ knowledge, copy files and cause damage.

"With the increasing dependence of private and corporate users on the Internet, a vital need was created to protect the users from dangers evolving from the Internet connection, " says Intel’s vice president and OEM division manager, "Finjan’s SurfinShield provides such protection for every desk top or laptop PC user connected to the Internet, and that is why we chose it."

Finjan, of Netanya, was set up at the beginning of 1996 by Shlomo Tobol, founder of Shani Computers, which was sold to Intel in 1996. The company’s products are distributed through Firewall companies worldwide.
