Internet-Bezeq International Hooks Up to Internet Junction at 10 Mbps

The connection will enable the company’s subscribers to surf Israeli sites at maximum speed of their modems.

Internet-Bezeq International has hooked up to the Israeli Internet junction IIX, on an ATM line at 10 Mbps, which will make it easier for company subscribers to surf Israeli sites at the maximum speed their computer modems will allow.

For surfers who are not company subscribers the hook up to the junction will enable them to enter sites located on the Internet-Bezeq International servers quickly, without congestion between the server farm and the IIX junction.

Three months ago, the Israeli Internet junction IIX, which connects all active Internet providers, started connecting major providers in ATM fast connectivity, which allows speeds of 10-25 Mbps.

The two providers that have already hooked up using this technology are, apart from Internet Bezeq International, NetVision and Internet Gold.

The hook-up was implemented after a "Globes" investigation on the congestion in the Israeli Internet market between NetVision’s server farm in Haifa and the IIX in Petach Tikva, which prevented speedy surfing of local sites by surfers who are not NetVision subscribers.

At the same time, the Israel Internet Association, the organization that started pressing the issue, installed a particularly large Bezeqcom network portal on a bandwidth of 155 Mbps, which will enable all Internet providers working with the company’s network, including NetVision, to hook up to IIX on ATM bandwidth lines.
