ECI Telecom has announced the signing of a contract with the municipal communications network company of Bogota, the capital. ETB has also chosen ECI’s network management solutions systems for controlling Bogota’s communications network. The contract, amounting to $13.7 million, was signed shortly after ECI opened its new office under the name of "ECI De Colombia".
ECI Telecom president and general manager, David Rubner, noted, that so far, ECI has set up twenty-five offices in various parts of the world in an attempt to expand its customer base.
"We expect to work together with ETB and to promote our activity and our presence in Colombia", Rubner added.
ECI America president Benzi Laor says that ECI’s decision to open a direct sales channel in Colombia proved itself in the signing of the agreement with ETB.
ETB is Colombia’s largest telephony services provider. The company has more than two million working lines, accounting for one third of total lines in that country. In the past year, the company become one of the three leading international calls companies. The decision was recently taken to privatise the company.
