Chayon Computers will set up a joint company with Auto-Kav Computerized Engineering, chief distributor in Israel of Autodesk’s computer-aided design products. Autodesk manufactures the AutoCAD software.
The joint company will be controlled by Chayon (51%) and by Auto-Kav owners (49%). Auto-Kav will transfer all its computerized engineering product distribution operations to the joint company. The new company, which will apparently be called "Auto-Kav 2000" has not been registered yet.
Tel Aviv Stock Exchange-listed Chayon Computers is an authorized distributor of Microsoft, Intel, Epson, Umax, Alcatel, and Acer. Auto-Kav is a private company owned by the Gabrielowitz family (Avi and Daniela Gabrielowitz).
Auto-Kav, whose 1998 sales turnover was NIS 13 million, will discontinue its product distribution operations. Under the agreement, the company will pursue its system implementation, support and training operations. The joint company will pay Auto-Kav for knowhow services for four and a half years.
In the last two years, Chayon has bought up various operations and companies in the distribution sector, such as Koor Communications-Isratel, and full ownership of Melel Soft Marketing Channels.
Chayon Computers is owned by Rafi Chayon (78%). The company’s 1998 turnover was more than NIS 152 million, up from NIS 108 million in 1997.
