CA Announces Product Combining Technologies by Memco, Security-7, Iris

The product, eTrust, combines technologies developed by all the Israeli companies recently bought by Computer Associates.

Computer Associates International has announced eTrust, an e-commerce information security solution. The product combines technologies developed by all the Israeli companies recently bought by CA: Memco, Security-7, and Iris.

The new product features encryption controls, anti-virus mechanisms, malicious code prevention, denial-of-service counter-measures, intrusion detection, PKI certificate management, and information security and authentication policy compliance. The product protects not only the systems and the networks, but also the data and the applications they enable.

A few months ago, CA bought Israeli company Iris Anti Virus, which had developed software for protection against hostile applets. The purchase figure has not been published, but sector sources set it at $5 million.

In recent months, CA also bought Security-7, which had developed a software for protection against hostile applets. This purchase figures was also not published, but was estimated at $17-19 million, subject to terms set by CA.

Memco, which was bought by Platinum last year, became part of CA International, when the software giant bought Platimun in March 1999, in the biggest merger in the history of the software sector. The Memco deal was ultimately set at $550-570 million.
