The plots are designed for the construction of residential towers.
Next Wednesday, the Jerusalem Municipality’s finance committee will again take up the deal under which the municipality will sell Israel Land Development two plots designed for the construction of residential towers at the city center for some $12.5 million. One of the plots lies next to the old Knesset building, where the national emblem of the Menorah used to stand, and the Even Sapir plot is adjacent to it.
At the municipality meeting, Meretz Party representative Yossi Falalo and independent representative Yossi Tal-Gan that the sale had been rashly approved - without an in-depth debate - at the last minutes of the finance committee’s previous meeting. The two are also opposed to the construction of high-rise buildings at the center of Jerusalem. Following consultation with senior municipality officials, finance committee chairman Eli Simhayof, decided to hold yet another discussion on the deal this week. Following this, the deal will be debated by the municipality plenum. The deal also requires approval by Minister of the Interior Nathan Sharansky.
