Matim Li Opens Store Chain in US

The cost of the chain amounts to $2.5 million.

Matim Li, owned by Avi Malka, will open a fashion chain for large sizes in the US at a cost of $2.5 million. The first store, to be called Breganne, will open in Florida in November. The 400-sq. m. store will be located in a 300-store mall.

Matim Li will market clothes made in Europe and in Israel and adjusted to the US market. Items will be sold at the same price as in Israel. The US chain will be managed by Miran Malka, who runs the company’s stores in Israel. By the end of 2000, Matim Li will open four additional stores. According to the company, the 2000 sales forecast for the US is $2 million.

According to Avi Malka, US market surveys conducted in the US market in the last 12 months showed that fashions for large sizes are not sufficiently developed, and mostly target the middle-aged and senior population. Malka added that Matim Li will target younger women by offering the latest fashions.

Matim Li has 40 stores in Israel, as well as additional branches in the Palestinian Authority. He added that the company’s annual sales turnover amounts to NIS 70 million.
