The Israeli company Hotbar.com today raised $3 million through Eurofund 2000. Eurofund 2000 co-manager Ilan Levin said that Hotbar.com is the kind of company that his fund is looking for. He said that the fund was interested in "companies whose products can have a significant influence on the future of the Internet".
Hotbar.com was founded at the beginning of the year by IDF Central Computing Facility (MAMRAM) graduate Oren Dobronsky, experienced in programming, and Gaby Karni, a psychologist who researches creativity, intelligence, and Internet use.
The company has developed technology for personalizing the browser, intended to turn the browser into a more user-friendly system. The initial characteristics of the browser designed with Hotbar.com's technology will be revealed at the beginning of December.
The company's revenue model is based on transactions with content providers, which users can receive with their individualized browsers.
Hotbar.com is listed as a US company, but its activity takes place in Israel. It is located in Tel Aviv and has 15 employees.
The Eurofund 2000 fund, which was founded in 1994, has invested to date in 20 Israeli companies. Among the companies, which are partners in the fund, are Daimler Benz, Chrysler, Deutsche Telekom, Lockheed Martin, Bertelsman Multimedia, ECI Telecom, and RAD Data Communications.
