The next generation of venture capital funds in Israel will raise significantly larger amounts of capital than the first generation, Genesis Funds partner Eddy Shalev told the Israeli Business Conference today.
On a panel devoted to foreign investment in Israel, Shalev said that the second generation of venture capital funds will raise amounts ranging from $150 million to $400 million. He was speaking in particular of the 10-12 largest funds, already active with a combined volume of $1.5 billion.
Shalev and other speakers on the panel criticized the Office of the Chief Scientist.
According to 3Com business development manager for Europe and the Middle East Yair Sakov, start-up companies should attempt to bring in venture capital funds as investors, since they bring with them management capability to a new company.
