NetGame, a leading provider of broadband access solutions, announced that its distributor Satellitt Compagniet A/S has signed an agreement to deliver NetGame's NeMo Cable Modem System to Telenor Avidi, the second largest MSO in Norway. Telenor Avidi will offer broadband data services, including high speed Internet access, via the NeMo Cable Modem to its 270,000 subscribers.
Telenor Avidi has a multi headend network that has been partially upgraded for two-way communication. The company sought a solution with advanced management capabilities that would make it possible to manage and control their entire network from one remote point and to integrate with their database to manage their modem inventory.
With NetGame's NeMo cable modem system, Telenor Avidi is able to manage all functions of authentication, network management, subscriber's database, system configuration and control over their distributed network. The management software's scalability and flexibility allow Telenor to integrate their cable modem inventory database and their Customer Administrator System (CAS), achieving end-to-end control over the entire system via a single point.
The NeMo cable system supports both two-way HFC and one-way telco return, accommodating the special needs of Telenor's hybrid network.
"The advantage in using the NeMo Cable Modem System is that it provides an affordable solution to both small and large cable networks," said Jon Koppang, CEO of Satellitt Copagniet A/S, the Norwegian distributor of NetGame. "Telenor Avidi gets a quick return on their investment, even from the small cities connected to NetGame's high speed Internet network."
"We have chosen the NeMo cable modem system because it gives the most cost effective solution for our specific needs," said Runar Jonsson, Logistics and Distribution Manager of Telenor Avidi. "The launch has been a success and we have ordered eight headends for the first stage, which is twice as many as was originally planned. In the future, we plan to connect almost all of our cable TV households to high speed Internet."
Europe is rapidly adopting broadband technology for high speed Internet and other online services. Within Europe, Scandinavian countries are in the lead in terms of Home PC and Internet penetration. NetGame's NeMo Cable Modem System has been deployed throughout Europe including two major MSOs in Sweden : Telia Infomedia, the largest MSO in the country with 1.3 million subscribers, and Tele2 with 340,000 subscribers.
