Israeli data communications company BATM has unveiled a new switch, designed for managing traffic and heavy loads on Internet Protocol (IP) networks. The switch, in the Titan series, allows fast communication on a very wide band of over 256 Gigabytes per second. BATM general manager Zvi Marom told "Globes" that the switch allows communication at a greater bandwidth than any other switch designed for private IP networks.
Potential customers for the switch are telecommunications companies, which are converting their current network to IP network; large business customers, the private virtual networks of which transmit traffic at large global volumes; and companies offering new IP services.
The company unveiled its new switch at the CeBIT exhibition in Hannover, Germany, which closed yesterday. Marom said that the switch manages transmission on both municipal and large organizational networks that are IP-based. "This is a next generation product", he added.
The switch is currently installed at a few BATM customers and is operating on a trial basis. One of the locations is CERM, the largest science center in the world, located in Geneva.
BATM unveiled another new product at the CeBIT exhibition. The product belongs to a sub-family of the Titan series, called T-8. The switch is a photon switch, which has no equivalent in the world.
