BreezeCOM, formerly a subsidiary of Lannet (now Lucent Israel), began as a wireless LAN equipment manufacturer. This was wireless communications equipment facilitating wireless intra-organizational communications between computers, without the need for a line connection.
Possible applications are installation of a robot on a continuous production line, warehouses requiring work with laptop computers, and various applications in hospitals and universities. By the way, its equipment facilitates hooking up to the Internet, while traveling at speeds of up to 90 kmph in the area covered by antennas.
BreezeCOM is considered the world's leading company in hooking up between different campus buildings (i.e. between two LAN networks of the same organization located in separate buildings) through wireless communications.
This market, however, is not particularly large, and has no promising future. This fact did not escape BreezeCOM general manager Michael Rothenberg, who oriented the company towards the wireless Internet access field. BreezeCOM's activity in a tangential market places it in a strong opening position, since it is leveraging its existing basket of products, which is fairly extensive.
BreezeCOM's customers included Tel2, a wireless Internet communications provider in Britain, and Tut Systems, which supplies "building Internet" equipment, similar to EDSL of Israel.
