A former executive of the Eisenberg group has joined the bank's team in Tel Aviv.
ANZ Banking of Australia, the first foreign bank to set up a branch in Israel, is making preparations to expand its activity in Israel, mainly in the field of supplying international trade services for Israeli companies operating in Asia, Ian Rutherford, manager of the bank's operations in Israel told "Globes" today.
"Following the recovery in Asian economies, and the increased trade between Israel and Asian countries, we plan to exploit our experience and expertise in Asian markets to expand our activity in Israel," he said.
The Australian bank has two branches in Israel: in Tel Aviv and east Jerusalem. To date, most of the bank's activity was in east Jerusalem, where it mainly provides business banking services to the Arab sector, The Australian bank also has branches in Jordan and Persian Gulf countries. The Tel Aviv branch was less active until a former Eisenberg group executive joined the team, and had only one employee.
