Walla!, Voice of America Found Portal for Israelis Living in US

The site will feature news, dating services for Israelis in the US, and employment information.

Walla Communications, owners of the Walla! Portal, will launch a portal for the Hebrew-speaking public living in North America in the coming weeks. The site will merge with Voice of America's existing Hebrew site, and will also launch a Hebrew-language weekly publication. Among other things, the site will feature news, current events, and community services.

Voice of America's site currently broadcasts news from Walla!. The agreement expected to be signed between the two companies will unify Walla!'s North American content with Voice of America's Hebrew content. Division of the ownership of the site is unclear, since negotiations are still continuing.

Among other things, the site will include online services designed for the Israeli public, such as a dating service for Israelis and employment information. The investment in the special services will be based on cooperation with Israeli companies operating in Israeli and companies with an Israeli orientation operating overseas.

Some 700,000 Israelis live in North America.
