A senior source in the State Prosecutor's Office said today that the decision whether to put former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on trial for the Amedi and gifts affair will not be taken before the end of the month or the beginning of September.
State Prosecutor Edna Arbel has been holding intensive discussions with senior staff about the Netanyahu affair. Sources say that Arbel will not write an opinion on behalf of the State Prosecutor's Office, as she did in the Weizman affair, unless it is done together with Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein.
Arbel is leaving for a week's holiday abroad. Rubinstein is returning to Israel tomorrow, after spending several weeks in Scandinavia and at the Camp David talks. When Arbel returns from her holiday, she and Rubinstein will hold a series of discussions in order to reach a decision.
