Sun to Invest NIS 1 Mln in National Incubation Center

A national incubation center of computer company Sun Microsystems and all the country's universities will enable students to develop start-ups.

Computer company Sun Microsystems has decided to allocate more than NIS 1 million in setting up a national incubation center for start-ups, in cooperation with Israel’s universities, sponsored by the inter-university computer center.

The incubator, designed for start-ups at the earliest stages, will be set up as part of Sun’s global plan for finding and penetrating e-business software developed by students. It will operate as a virtual incubator and students from all the universities will be able to access computerized resources, which will be installed at Tel Aviv University through a smart card, and develop a business plan and prototype within six months.

Under Sun’s campus incubator program, the company will provide selected students with technical infrastructure to develop their e-business ideas. Five business plans from each university will be chosen to be included in the program. They will be selected according to recommendations from the faculty and venture capital firms participating in the program. Students whose business plans are chosen will receive free access to the Sun incubation installation, to be set up at all the universities participating in the project, for six months.
