“Globes” has learned that a sophisticated bugging device was recently discovered in the offices previously used by businessman Avinoam Brog, the brother of Prime Minister Ehud Barak.
Brog moved from the offices four months ago. Among other things, Brog used the offices to provide services and assistance to Barak election campaign for prime minister last year, and to hold meetings and conferences with donors and key campaign activists.
The bug was discovered by executives of Sher Electronics (OKI) during renovations following their lease of the offices. As far as is known, Sher Electronics and Brog intend to submit a complaint to the police, as required in such cases.
Last year, Brog served as general manager of Gallup Israel, which conducted polls for the Likud as well. As far as is known, Brog was excluded by Gallup from the polls themselves.
The bug was inserted in Brog’s offices, in the corner above the exhausts. It was connected to a power transformer that in turn was connected to a camouflaged power source. The antenna was inserted into Brog’s office. The bug was also connected to the telephone system, through a phone cable that was sent through a communications channel running in the space between the ceiling and the exhaust ceiling.
