Sun-Dor plans to fly twice a week to Sharm el-Sheikh once it receives the appropriate permits from Israel.
The Egyptian government yesterday granted Sun-Dor permission to fly to Sinai. The approval was granted despite President of Egypt Hosni Mubarak’s recent statement supporting a boycott of Israeli companies because of the Israeli-Palestinian confrontation. Sun-Dor is an El Al subsidiary that flies charters.
The Egyptian civil aviation authority informed Sun-Dor in writing that it approved its application to operate flights to Sharm el-Sheikh. Sun-Dor will now apply to the Ministry of Transport civil aviation administration to commence operations. Arkia also flies to Sharm el-Sheikh.
Operating the flights still obtaining the necessary permits in Israel. Sun-Dor general manager Uri Danor said, “When conditions permit, we will begin operating two flights a week to Sharm el-Sheikh, one Sundays and Thursdays. The flights will be by Boeing 737s.”
