The Yam Thetis gas exploration partnership has made a final decision to bid in the international tender for the natural gas conduction project in Israel, estimated at $250 million.
Gideon Tadmor, co-general manager of Delek Energy Systems, Yam Thetis’s partner, said today that the partners decided to bid in the tender via affiliated concerns, but it was not yet clear whether they will all bid .
”Globes” has learned that Delek Industries, recently set up for desalination and infrastructure projects, will lead the group. Avner and Samedan of the US are also partners in the Yam Thetis partnership.
The partnership recently appealed to the High Court of Justice to halt the international gas conduction tender, claiming that under the Oil Law, it is entitled to conduct the natural gas it discovered off the Ashkelon coast itself and the tender is therefore unnecessary.
The pre-screening process in the tender has just been reopened. The Thetis Yam partnership decided to participate in the process, which four groups have already entered. The Ministry of National Infrastructures told the Tel Aviv District Court yesterday that the final tender will be published by January 11, 2001.
